General Statement of Job:
The Maintenance Technician I maintains school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of all district facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Maintenance Technician I must work closely with the staff and administration of Lexington City Schools This job reports to the Supervisor of Maintenance
Essential Functions:
- Provide maintenance support to schools within the district
- Perform basic repairs to facilities and equipment as needed
- Assist with upkeep of grounds when assigned
- Assemble furniture
- Move furniture between buildings and offices
- Assist with plumbing, painting and general carpentry
- Installs bulletin boards and dry erase boards as needed
- Work overtime when emergencies arise to prevent the disruption of schools
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
- Operate and care for power equipment and hand tools
- Performs work assigned by work orders
- Performs all repairs in a professional and timely manner
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- Knowledge of general maintenance
- General knowledge in basic carpentry, plumbing is preferred
- Must be able to follow directions and complete tasks given
Physical Requirements:
- This work is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force
- Employees in this position are required to work in all kinds of weather conditions
- Must be able to perform under stressful conditions
